Okay - I don't know what these other reviews are talking about. They make this place seem like a hell hole and it really isn't at all.
I moved into my newly renovated townhouse unit in June of 2005. At first we picked out a different unit, but they were renovating that as well and were not sure they would finish it in time for our move in date, so they let us choose another as soon as they thought there would be trouble.
We got new flooring/carpet, drywall/paint, new doors, new windows, and even all new appliances. ALL new appliances. And of course, the washer, dryer, and water is included...
There have been a few bugs, but it's nothing major. That's not unique to this neighborhood either, it's the way the soil is around here. You can be the cleanest person in the world and you still get them - it's not like up north where you only get them if you are nasty. And it's only ever a big deal when the weather is changing. If you have a problem, you ask the office to send the exterminator.
Speaking of asking the office for things, I don't know where people are coming from with them being nasty. They have been nothing but helpful to me, and the most piddly of things that I've gone in there about have been taken care of right away. The only time I've ever had a maintenence issue was when I needed to ask them to send the exterminator, we had a question about the dishwasher, and there was a chip in the drywall...see, piddly. And I've never seen a rat anywhere near this unit...
The lease is like 2 pages, so whoever exaggerated with the 35 page lease line needs to learn to count.
My biggest gripe with this neighborhood is the parking. They just started enforcing their towing policy again, so that is good. It's right off of Gorman Street, so NC State students tend to like to park their cars here and catch the wolfline, especially when it's raining. It's a pain for those who live here and end up having to park a block or so from their unit. Now, you can even call mid-south towing yourself and have people towed, even though they tow regularly now.
I'm on Kings Court toward the front, and the noise isn't bad at all. On weeknights, it is pretty non-existent, and on weekends it ends at a decent hour. Yes, it is a majority of undergraduate and graduate students, but there are also families that live in this neighborhood as well.
And about the price - for the size, and location...the price is really a steal. Other places in the area are going for much more money and offer much less.
Perhaps these negative reviews are from people that were here before this mangagement team or before renovations or from people that just like to complain and never went to management for any assitance. In any case, they are off-base, and I have and will continue to recommend Gorman Crossings to people.
I'm having to move next year for professional reasons, but if it weren't for that, I'd stay here a good while longer.
