Look elsewhere

When we first looked at the apartments, I looked at the exterior of the buildings and thought it looked very rundown, not somewhere that I would care to live. However, when we looked at the floor model apartment, I changed my mind. The apartments are spacious, with rather open floor plans. The management and staff couldn't have been more helpful with our questions, etc., especially for the price. After we moved in, within the first 24 hours I found 12 cockroaches, the storage shed (aka laundry room) lock didn't work, and the countertops were peeling away whenever they were exposed to water. Matience fixed this problem immediately, so to speak. After that, our dishwasher stopped working, our garbage disposal "died", leaking all the sink water into the dishwasher. It took two weeks for matience to come and "look" at the problem. The reasoning for the delay is that it was the beginning of summer and the priority at the time was fixing aircondition units. There are approximately 200 apartments, are all the airconditioning units broken'! Needless to say, our garbage disposal is still broken, the sink water is still flowing like floodwater into the dishwasher, and now our airconditioning unit is "malfunctioning" (it won't stay under 75 degrees). Since they sprayed for cockroaches, I have only seen around three or four, but there are plenty of spiders, flying insects, and other unidentifiable bugs crawling around the apartment. Basically, I love the floor plan, I hate everything else.

The two-plus years I lived there the temperature NEVER got below 75 during the summer months despite the A/C running 24/7. Watch out for your balcony (if you live on the second floor). Mine nearly collapsed when I was going to my laundry shed. In the last six months my hot water heater burst and my bathtub spigot wouldn't shut off. I recommend moving ASAP. Summers there are horrible with the parking lot parties, constant loud music, drunk residents, and indifferent management to the problems.
