It's discouraging to know that when the heater is not working properly, the thermostat is not working properly, and the air conditioner needs freon added every year that the maintenance supervisor continues to work on each item instead of calling a heating/air conditioner company to either repair the problem or replace the system. Come on now! If a maintenance person was really qualified to check and repair a heating/air conditioner system, Do you really think he/she would be working as a maintenance person at an apartment complex instead of making much more more as a heating/air conditioner technician or engineer'

Additionally, I've had problems with cracks in the ceiling, around the chimney, and water damage to a wall around the windows. When I called maintenance to correct and repair the problem, maintenance walked in looked at the damage, and said, "Yep, there are cracks," and left my apartment and did not fix the cracks. Neither maintenance person bothered to acknowledge the water damaged wall.

What makes poor and unqualified maintenance discouraging, is management relies on these morons' opinions and recommendations to either repair any problems or replace old equipment. Now this creates a ripple effect that an owner of an apartment complex can and will loose any tenant that may consider staying long term. Maybe the landlord doesn't care' Maybe the landlord thinks it's okay to take a decent apartment complex and turn it into a complex for a slumlord'
