I've lived here for 1 1/2 years now and am disappointed in several things. The apartments look nice from the outside but once you get inside an actual unit (not the display unit) they're pretty worn out. The carpet should have been replaced before I moved in (very matted and several stains). There are several places where the cabinets are disintegrating, and the shower caulking is constantly growing mold, which tells me there is mold growing behind the fiberglass siding. Several of the windows leak, and the walls and ceiling aren't thick enough to keep sound out.
Despite these things, the experience hasn't been too bad until lately. I was looking for affordability, not luxury. Lately though I've had problems with spiders and roaches. There's also been gang activity and vandalism in the neighborhood.
The office staff also has high changeover -- there's not anyone here who was here when I moved in. The staff appear friendly until there is a problem, then they become very cold. I signed a new lease last October (despite a hefty increase in rent) and was not provided with a copy of the new lease. I was also not informed that the late payment had gone up. I've never made a late payment in my life until today. When I realized this morning I had forgotten, I immediately put the payment in the box, intending to go by this afternoon to pay the late fee. When I arrived home, there was a letter with my voided check, indicating that they do not accept partial payment, so as they saw it, I had not paid my rent and they were starting eviction procedure. This seems extremely unnecessary since I had in fact paid the rent, just not the late fee. I am unbelievably disappointed with the changes and plan to move out when my lease is up.
