Don't move here!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 7/12/2004
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
I've lived here for two years. It was nice when I first moved in, but it went downhill soon after when the corporation changed management. Several issues will cause me to move out asap:
1. Safety: I know of at least two sexual assaults, and one mugging that have happened in the parking lot since I have lived here. The police recently warned us that several apartments had been broken into--and this was on the same day that I came home to find my doors propped open by painters, with no one around to watch the apartment!
Even though there are supposedly strict rules for visitors and parties, these rules are RARELY enforced. Anyone is let onto the property at anytime. One night around 2:00 AM there was a large drunk crowd outside my apt yelling and getting to fights around the cars. The guard house did not answer my phone calls and on this occaision, when I called the police, they never came! However, the police are often at this place.
2. Appearance: The worst part is the new paint job. The colors remind me of army barracks and the painters did a lousy job. Although the lawnmower crews will wake you up at 8:00 AM with their noise, you will get used to seeing trash everywhere if you live here. Empty bottles and fastfood bags litter the parking lots, the stairs, and the grassy areas. No one ever cleans it up.
3. Noise: Okay I know it's a student apt complex, but it is NEVER quiet. And sometimes I need to sleep or study. This is the type of place where people drive around with bass blaring, or they turn on the stereo and leave their apt for a few hours, so there's no way to ask them to turn it down.
4. Unfriendly/shady people live here. I used to know a couple people who lived around me, but now no one says hello. I have tried knocking on my neighbors doors a couple times when I got their mail by mistake, or wanted to ask them something, and they didn't answer the door, and I know that they were home, because I saw and heard them inside. I'm a woman and I don't think I look scary or intimidating, so there's no reason for them to not open the door.
I heard a rumor that they started letting people on assistance live here just to fill up the empty rooms. Don't move here, it should be a last resort for housing.
