Good for beginning families

My husband and I have lived here for eight months. We graduated college and got married the same week, then moved in here.
It is a very clean- looking, well kept neighborhood. I feel that though the rent is relatively steep, you do get what you pay for, mainly due to the location of the neighborhood. We can walk to the grocery store, Starbucks, or Kohl's among other stores, all within minutes.
Our most recent aggravation has been the neighbors above us. We live on the first floor and before we moved in I asked if they got many noise complaints. The answer was no. However, we have heard our upstairs neighbors vacuuming, lifting weights, running after children, and many other loud obnoxious noises. Management asks you to let them know and they will handle the complaint, however they are vague about what they will do beyond the usual "write a letter" solution.
Our other main grievance is that when things are slow at the office, the staff may close early. Usually this is not a problem, but it gives a lazy appearance. This affects us if we need to talk to someone for whatever reason, or want to try to pick up a package. That ends in frustration.
Generally however, I would say that if noise doesn't bother you then it's probably an ideal place to begin a family.
