Pros: Assistant Manager was a great first impression for the this apartment complex and was a pleasure to deal with throughout our stay.

Plenty of storage room available in the garage. Can store stuff in the top and on the sides comfortably & still have room for a mid-size 4-door sedan.
Walking distance to Harris Teeter, 540 Hwy & Starbucks.

Cons:
Had problems sleeping every night due to being stuffed up & blowing my nose at least 10 times a night. Thought it was allergies, although I take a prescription allergy medicine. Later discovered during the week we moved out that there was a significant amount of mold around the bedroom windows.

Apartment was very drafty. Temperature would drop noticeably within 5 minutes after the heat turned off.

The real surprise came when the apartment complex deducted 5 days rent from our deposit. We gave our notice on 11/5, which the 5th of the month is the last day that you can pay the rent without penalty. We were out of the apartment by 12/20 leaving the apartment immaculate & ready to rent 16 days before our 60-day period was up. Also, when I dropped off the apartment keys shortly after the move, I inquired about the deposit amount that we should expect to receive back. The "Apartment Manager" checked our file in front of me and said that we would receive the full amount back except for any remaining water bill balance. However, in addition to the remaining water bill balance, they deducted 5 days rent from our deposit for Jan 1st-Jan 5th. I've lived in several apartment complexes before where I gave a 60-day notice during the 1st & 5th of the month and I always received the full deposit back as long as I was out by the 1st.

The Muirfield "Apartment Manager" said that she would see if she could reimburse us the 5-days rent, since she felt like we were "good people who try to do the right thing." One week later, I called the "Apartment Manager" to check on the reimbursement status. She said her boss had really been busy but that she would follow up with me later. We never heard from the "Apartment Manager" again.

In today's economy, every dollar counts. In business, honesty and customer follow up are very important factors for repeat business and referrals. Based on our experience, we will never rent from Muirfield again & will not recommend them to anyone.

We experienced the same mold problem with almost all the windows in our apartment.

Piece of Crap apartment complex. I left about 1 year ago and the manager gave same song and dance and they charged us the full deposit, we threatened a lawsuit and they paid immediately. Take them to the small claims court.

The residnet's lease expired on 1/5/2009. His notice date is accurate to 60 days and they were obligated by the lease agreement to pay rent until their lease expired. Keep in mind that this review along with it's other responses are very one sided. But still I say that if you are interested in our community to please come, visit, see for yourself. Thank you.
