Cheap and Mostly Clean, untilities expensive

First: My apartment. Nothing too great here, it is bug free and mostly clean. The carpets were not new when I moved in, and look bad now, 2 years later. The walls were painted and clean, but the layers of paint only hid the mold and mildew on the outer walls of my "basement" apartment. Whenever it rains, the walls will get damp, and if the gutter block was moved the floor in the bedroom would get soaked. The ceiling used to leak all over, but that gotten taken care of in my first year of living there. Spend the extra cash and go 2nd or third level. The electric bill triples in winter because the windows let in cold air in a major way. (Single pane glass)

The community is not too bad. Drug deals and crack ho's show up almost daily on the streets but they leave you alone. A large Hispanic community also pretty much leaves you alone. The yards (as they are) get cleaned daily, but still from dark to dusk somehow they seem to get littered with bottles and other trash, but it does get picked up. Most of the neighbors have been quiet but every once and awhile I would get a noisy one.

I do not bother to call maintenance anymore, I just fix it myself. They do nto speak english and that leads to problems with getting problems fixed. They have also ignored several calls, and not completed tasks.

All in all I would stay away from here unless you are a bachelor like myself, that is not afraid of a little crime, and only require a warm (mostly) dry place to sleep. For what I pay now you could get a nicer (maybe smaller) place. And don't think the free rent is free, each of those months is on top of a 12 month lease. I spent 2 1/2 years here and I am buying a house in the next month, my house payment will be $50 less than the rent so keep that in mind also.

Single women, I don't think you would be safe here. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
