Great location. That's about it.

The Raleigh Apartments are in one of the best locations in all of downtown Raleigh and offer pretty spacious floor plans. They also allow any pets, of any breed. That's pretty much the only good.
These apartments were finished being built in 1938. There is no insulation, there are few updates, and the walls make paper seem sound-proof. I've lived in two different parts of this complex and it's just the same. If you want to hear every word your neighbors say, every song they listen to, and everything they watch, move right in.
There is one laundry facility with about a dozen machines and more often than not, there are more machines out of order than working. Which is especially bad when there are hundreds of tenants using that one facility. For about $2.50-$4.00 your clothes might get dry.
Back to the thin, non-insulated walls. If the sound doesn't bother you, your utility bills probably will. You'll need a window A/C as there is no in apartment cooling. The heat is baseboard and takes a good few hours to heat things up while drawing a LOT of electricity. Before living here, my electric bills have never been more than $50 a month and it has rarely been that. My average bill at the Raleigh Apartments was between $100 in the summer and $185 in the winter. That's with everything turned off and unplugged while I'm not at home.
Repairs are typically made quickly if you report them and make it sound worse than it is. I'm a male, but have heard from many females around the apartments that the grounds/repairs staff act very skeezy towards and even harass them. The office staff could care less about you and have no intentions of hiding that once you sign that lease. They treat you like crap and jack your rent up at every chance they get with no real reason to do so. They also require a two months notice to vacate so to pretty much screw you into staying as most places only hold a new place for a month, including them. And no, you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT SUB-LEASE. That person will be kicked out and you will be held responsible for the remainder of the rent and receive bad marks on your rental history.
All in all, avoid this place.
