If you're looking at these ...

I looked at these apartments and I have to say, I was glad to find something else. Some things I did NOT like about Sailboat Bay: The W/D connection was in the LIVINGROOM. Seriously. There was what I thought was a coat closet in the living room, right across from the door, and it turns out, no, that's where the washer and dryer would go. Uh, no. The kitchen appliances were old, the cabinets looked like they were from the 70s, they were narrow and creeky, the drawers smelled musty. The itsy-bitsy bathroom had no counter -- at all. The bedroom was small. The only thing I remotely liked about this apartment was the built-in bookshelves in the livingroom. It was $510 a month -- but the charges they expect when you move in are astronomical -- and they aren't willing to work with you to make moving in any easier. They wanted $115 just to HOLD the place. Ridiculous.
Honestly, I feel like I wasted my time looking at this place. OK so you have a pool and a fitness center. That's nice -- but when the place where I'll actually be LIVING is a piece of junk then what do those things matter'

i just got a place here and yes it is a bit old, but at a good price compared to the 1 bedrooms in the area. Bedroom really isn't that small and that holding fee you are fussing about does go towards your deposit on the day of move in so its not an extra fee. All in all i like it before move in but i will update as the year goes on!!! As for the w/d connection, i really like where they are, well for me i like to take them out and watch TV as i fold so makes it a bit easier. Lots of closet and cabnit space is nice and will be needed.

First of all, the w/d connections are inside a closet adjacent to the KITCHEN. They are not "in the living room" but rather NEXT to the living room. You should be grateful that they have connections at all, as many places do not. Second, they have some of the cheapest rents in Raleigh. What do you expect? If you require a brand new, huge, luxury apartment, you may want to look somewhere much more expensive. You get what you pay for.

When your looking between the $500-$600 price range, nothing is going to be perfect. So, as someone who is looking for an apartment, you have to find something that is reasonable. When your reading reviews, I tend to avoid those talking about cockroaches (and other infestation) and the quality of people going downhill. Also, bad management/staff. But, if this is all you have to complain about, you really need a lesson in some humility and learn not to be so "snobbish". This place seems to be too far for me, but, it does look like a decent place with decent people who cares about it!
