A Wonderful Place to Live

I have had a wonderful experience at Shellbrook Apartments, and if I was not relocating to Virginia, I would definately stay at my apartment.

The apartment price was great. It was a great deal, including the high speed internet. Yes, sometimes the internet would go down or be really slow. As a professional web designer, I didn't have a huge problem with the internet. I was just glad it was one less thing I had to pay for!
I rented a washer and dryer from them also. With the W&D, Cable TV, Internet, Water, and Rent, my total per month was $615. Wow!

Parking was fine, plenty of spots to park in. My neighbor had her car broken into and my car was keyed while living there. When we complained to the management, they immediately took action as much as possible. Though no charges were pressed, I was happy with the management's handling of the problem.
A few months after my car was keyed, I got a call from the manager letting me know that she saw some guys hanging outside of my apartment and had called the police on them! It was a misunderstanding, they were my roommate's friends from out of state who didn't know that I was home. Regardless, I was extremely impressed with their concern for my safety.

The apartment is a nice size and I enjoy all of the storage space in the kitchen pantry, bathroom "pantry", hall closet, bedroom vanity, and huge walk in closet.
The aparments are older and could probably use some renovation. The cabinets and shelves are old and are starting to warp, but are still secure. I'd like to see new shelves but in the pantry and closets.

We did have a problem with cockroaches. Not a severe problem, I probably killed one a month. When I thought I figured out where they were coming in, the matinence came in the next day and plugged up the hole. Whenever we had a matinence issue, they were very prompt at fixing the problem.

The ladies at the management office were very sweet and always happy to see us. Some people have accused them of being "fake", but I always found them very genuine.

I have always been surprised how quiet my apartment has been. Not once have I had to complain about noise to any of my neighbors. During the day a lot of children scream and play outside, but at night it's always very peaceful.

Other positives: A place to put your trash on every street (not one per complex), glass recycling beside cans, nice view, lots of trees and foliage, mailbox in every apartment building

Other negatives: Apartments are very dark (requiring lights be on all day), old thermostat that you constantly have to adjust, old toilet, bugs, mail drop off only at main office (though each building had its own mailbox)

Overall, I've loved my stay at Shellbrook Apartments and have been shocked during my search not to find an apartment that quite lives up to Shellbrook's expectations. If I am, or know someone, who is planning on moving to Raleigh, I will immediately suggest Shellbrook to them.
