Well.......

I have lived here for a few years now. Each year is getting worser and worser. Two words sum this whole place up. IT SUCKS! The office staff is notorious for its miscommunications. Note keep all paperwork handy and record every conversation date and time for future references.

They can't seem to keep any new leasing agents in the office. The apartments are old, wickedly roach infested, decrepit, and reak. The bathroom and bedroom vanities are old they look like something out of a 60's flick. Make sure you fill out your checklist before you move anything in your apartment. Please do a thorough inspection of the place and possibly have someone there to help you look. This will help you with any charges presented later on once you get ready to move out.

More than likely you won't be able to view your apartment until your move in day. Before then the only thing that you will be viewing is the outside of the apartment. Do a good outside check to try and get an idea of whom your neighbors will be. I don't know what the deal is with these Raleigh apartment communities not letting you see the apartment before your move in day comes.

Anyways, The walls are extremely thin you can hear your neighbors cough, fart you name it. The walls are so thin people I can't stress to you how thin these walls are. Many of days I have woken up in a hast because I thought someone had broken into my apartment. After a couple of incidents I discovered that it was my dumb ass down stairs neighbor scrambling in his kitchen at 2:00am and slamming his kitchen cabinets. Neighbors on their balcony at 5:30am talking it sounds like they are in your bedroom trying to have a conversation with you.

The apartment staff always remind you of anything being done e.g water shut off, extermintator coming the day before. How convienient!! I only remember the exterminator coming maybe once a year if that. The gym is a big joke it only has 4 exercise machines and no restroom. What do you expect this whole place is a joke for the amount of money paid to stay here.

By the way they asked for a $500 deposit when I moved here that was nonrefundable. I was told it was used as savings bond or something. You also have to pay $25.00 for discounted cable and a miscellaneous fee of $10.00 that they could not vouch for. So once they quote you the good rental deal when you stop by think about the extra $35.00 that will be tacked onto the rent.

Also, yes the internet is free and wireless good deal if you have a wireless internet card. Beware when a strong wind comes the power goes out and stays for 30 minutes to an hr sometimes. I think that I have given you enough warnings the choice is yours. Be smart and bomb the place before you move anything in!!!

By far this is one of the two worst apartment communities that I have stayed in yet. I have always read bad reviews about the Drucker and Faulk communities. Now I truly see why please beware when you come to Shellbrook. It is filled with empty promises and horrible residents.

I agree Carol always seems to be putting a rather insincere smile on, but I have to give her and Diane credit for being straight up with me. Whether I've gone to them angry because rent got jacked up again, because my phone line wouldn't work, because my cable wasn't working (and I was PISSED about that after a month and a half of the mess... just to eat my words and realize it was my own fault), they try hard to stay personable, even if that means they come across as faking it, as they didn't put me in my place after the cable thing. But when I've come at them, they have given me honest, even if not likeable, answers. The one BS I would call out management for is claiming they are doing all this beautification for our sake. They would have rebuilt the perfectly fine tennis courts they tore down for no reason ("We're going to rebuild them!" but never were) for us. They got great use until it became the gravel pit it is now. :/ Oh well. Overall, safe, clean community, but yes, watch out for water turned off (they don't communicate that as well as they used to), internet going out, cable you have to pay for, etc. Still yet, best for our money.
