I would die before renting here again.

When my husband and I first moved to Shellbrook, it was great. Sharon was the property manager, and she was a joy to work with. We were always either on-time or early with our rent, never caused any serious issues, and she quickly helped us find a new apartment on the property when the woman living below our 1BR started throwing fits over our walking through our own living room and having people in our apartment (there was a hollow spot in a part of the floor that caused noise to reverberate in the apartment below). Mike and Wes were outstanding maintenance guys--any time there was a problem that needed their attention, they were there and got everything done quickly and (more importantly) done well. All told, everyone was very pleasant and I didn't have a single issue.
Then Sharon got transferred to Virginia, Mike left to either work at another complex or for another company, and that's when things started to go to hell. Wes stuck around, and still did the same great job he always did--but we kept seeing less and less of him, which I didn't take as a good sign. Eventually he left. Management changed hands three times after Sharon left--first there was Gary, then there was Michelle (If I remember right), then there was Michelle's replacement (whose name I never caught--and thank the gods for that, because she was rude as hell). Shellbrook turned into Hellsbrook, as the crime rate soared (my car was broken into THREE TIMES) and manglement refused to do anything about it other than post notes at the mailboxes and tell complainants "You'll have to call the police, there's nothing we can do."
The kicker came shortly after my husband decided we had to go month-to-month with the rent because he didn't think we'd be able to stay for a full lease term. That's when we started getting notes and calls from the office saying that people were complaining about noise from our apartment (which was news to me, since we're pretty quiet folks), that we needed to update our cars' registrations (again, news to me since our cars were current on registrations AND inspections), that we had to not fill the dumpster near our unit with so much trash (wow, they never had an issue with our spring clutter-removals before), and so on. Finally, a new maintenance guy came into the apartment to replace our garbage disposal, and one of our two cats dropped a big bomb in the catbox while he was there. Hello, cat doodies stink when they first come out of the cat, especially when the cat doesn't cover it up right away! I came home from work to find a note on our door telling us that we had 30 days to get out--apparently this guy had gone right back to the office and said that we had trash and cat mess everywhere (which was not true), and rather than investigate the management decided to just believe him rather than investigate it--and why' Because we didn't have a lease, we were just month-to-month.
Meanwhile, the police came every night because of the couple downstairs constantly fighting in front of the unit, multiple car and apartment break-ins occurred (and, of course, nothing was done), and long-time residents started leaving because they didn't like the type of people that had started to move in to the complex. And management refused to do anything until one girl got assaulted in the apartment across from mine and her father got the legal beagles on management's carcass...and their response was to simply rip out the shrubbery in front of our unit, while leaving the shrubs in front of other units untouched. Anytime we complained about anything, the complaints fell on deaf ears. If we pointed out drug deals being done near our apartment and commented about the strange cars that would drive into the lot late at night, we were told to call the police and stop bugging the office.
At last the day came when we decided we'd had enough and moved out. Judging from the comments here and a news story about a woman getting assaulted in my old apartment, I see that nothing has changed.
Do yourselves a favor, folks. Don't rent at this property unless you have a shotgun for home defense and a car alarm system that'll electrocute any freelance socialists that try to mess with it.

it's amazing what some people will say when they leave owing money to a community.

I don't owe any money to them, actually. My husband and I were paid in full, and even managed to get our deposit back.
Nice try, though. You work for Drucker and Falk in what capacity?
