Has pluses, but biggest problems are poor sound insulation, no ceiling lights, small windows & noisy AC

These apartments, whilst looking nice on the outside and in the brochures/online listings, have not been built very well and you won't understand or realise this this until you have actually moved in and lived here.
We enountered many problems after we moved in and we still have some, such as large insects coming in to the apartment, from god knows from. However the biggest problem is that these apartments have not been built well to prevent a lot of noise/sound transmissions between floors and between adjoining walls.
I agree with other reviews already posted, that living here you can hear other people's day-to-day living noises all the time, such as people walking around, opening/closing doors, music/TV noises, even the AC in the next apartment. Because the overall ambient noise level is generally very low, when someone does make a louder than usual noise, such as turning on their car early in the morning or when someone drives down the street with loud music on, it comes through into the apartments quite noticably.
I don't know how noise levels at other apartments compare with this one, but the noise can get bothersome and sometimes quite irritating.
The locks on the exterior doors does not make me feel secure also. Maybe they don't get any crime here'
The apartments also do not have any ceiling lights, which means that before you move in, you'll have to have or buy a bunch of table lamps and you have to turn them on/off individually for each room you go into, every time you go into the room. There is a wall light switch on the wall near the doors to each room, but these switches do not operate all the wall sockets in a room or perhaps where you have your lamp connected to for the room layout that you want to have.
You could keep the lamps on all the time in the evening, but that will cost you a lot in an area where the elctric bills are already sky high.
Another thing that did not register with us until we had moved in is how small the windows are. This resuls in a dark-ish interior even in the middle of the day, forcing us to turn lights on.
The A/C system is quite noisy and is located next to the bedrooms - not a very clever design.
The apartments are large and conveniently located, although this complex has a range of older apartments that are still in service but which should have been refurbished a long time ago.
The staff between Mondays-Fridays, are very good and attentive and the complex appears to be well maintained (we've not seen any dog poo around). Some problems are cresated by the residents themselves, through their anti-social conduct and lack of consideration for their neighbours.
I have lived in worse places, but we will be looking for somewhere quieter when our lease is up.
