I lived at Sommerset place for about one year, and am happy to be gone. It looked like the perfect place for me, especially because of the quiet, secluded appearance. However, this secluded complex lended itself to crime, and I can't think of a single weekend during my residency where the police were not putting yellow tape on a door in my complex (great place for meth labs, by the way) or asking me questions at 2 a.m. about the most recent mugging.

The staff, nevertheless, was often helpful and courteous. The maintenance crew was prompt, yet the "fixing" part wasn't up to par.

The complex is well-lit at night. Well-lit, that is, with creepy, orange bulbs that light up the interior of each bedroom as if it were a scene from the "Halloween" movies.

The buildings are very old and not insulated at all. I do believe that construction paper separated me from my neighbors. I recommend using 4 or 25 box fans to help take the focus off the noises--to include singing, riverdancing, dogs being tortured slowly, and deprived circus monkey sex--that tend to occur between 10pm and 10am ("Quiet hours").

The price went up, the quality went down, and I said "bye-bye." I strongly recommend finding something else--an extra $50/month elsewhere may truly help keep your sanity.

I have lived at Sommerset Place for almost a year and when I read this review I laughed outloud. I have never seen a police car in the neighborhood except the Sheriff who lives there. And I guess it depends on who your neighbors are, but I haven't had any noise problems. And unfortunately when you live in an apartment you can never be guaranteed good neighbors. Trust me have had bad ones at other communities. I do agree that the office and maintenance staff is great. They really want to help you. Maybe this person lived in a different parking lot... but I have not seen any of the problems she is mentioning. I would recommend Sommerset to anyone and actually just got one of my friends to move into the building next to mine!
