Dont be fooled by the beauty of this complex! The city dump that you can see from the parking lot smells horrible on a consistent basis, not a couple of days per year like some residents and management would have you believe.I was told that the dump would be closed down soon after I moved in, yet every Saturday I continued to see lines of cars going over to drop off trash and yard waiste. I lived in the complex for over a year and my experience left something to be desired.
The buildings are nice, new, and spacious. However, the elevators (soaked in dog pee, smelling of cigarettes, and broken on a regular basis) were not as much of a luxury as you would think. The parking is also a problem. If you dont get home by 6pm you can forget about parking near your building. My bank statements, along with other mail, ended up in other people's mailboxes. After new management took over the quality of new residents quickly went down hill and being outside at night time didnt feel so safe anymore. The sound of BOOMING speaker boxes could be heard at 3am most nights as well as people riding their loud motorcycles to work at 7am. Oh yeah, and the "great facilities". There are always people that dont live in the complex at the pool.Thankfully I have my own computer because the computer lab was always full of unsupervised children playing on the computers and none of the equipment worked (stupid printer). The gym was used by unsupervised children as a play area and half of the free weights were stolen and the treadmills were always broken. The parking spaces are too small, kids throw footballs in the parking lot and hit cars, the dumpster and recycling bin were always overflowing, and managment did nothing to fix these problems. They just kept saying that they would take care of it, but they never did. They require a 60-day notice to move out, which they are not flexible on no matter your situation, and then they try to rush you to move out early so they can rent your apartment out and promise you that they will refund any unused rent (yeah right!)
Anyway, overall I would not advise anyone to move to summermill apts. Just remember that low rent equals sketchy neighbors! And anyone who writes a positive message about this place probably got rejected from other apartment complexes and were lucky to be able to move in to summermill in the first place!
