I lived at the Palms Apartments from 2004-2005 in a one bedroom unit.

The apartment complex lures you in with 2 months of free rent. Please do not fall for this "free" rent when renting an apartment.

Nothing is free.

The apartment was dirty, with roaches (water bugs) as the management calls them coming out from underneath the toliet tank. When you sit on the toliet seat you find large black roaches coming out from under the tank. It makes it very stressfull when you are trying to go to the bathroom.

Next, the laundry room downstairs in each building is also very dirty and smells very bad. If you plan on cleaning your clothes in the laundry rooms at the Palms Apartments you better think twice. The washers have roaches living inside them. The cleaning staff never cleans these rooms, with garbage overflowing from the cans.

The management staff does not care for you or your general well being. When I had complaints all they would say is that you must have been sick before you moved into the apartment. The place made me sick from day one. The carpets were nasty dirty along with the bathrooms and kitchen.

There were no air vents in the kitchen making it very hot and stale in there while you cook. I would eat out instead. Better yet, don't move to the Palms Apartments in the first place.

I would recommend any of the other apartment complexes nearby (Merridith Village) if you want to live in the general area for Rex.

Please take my advice and look elsewhere when looking for an apartment near Rex Hospital or NCSU.

Don't let the free rent or free water/gas lure you into the Palms. You will never forget the health problems that will follow later if you live in these dirty, smelly, and just plain nasty apartment units.

Save yourseld from misery.
