OKAY, MOVE OUT CAN BE EXPENSIVE!

Generally this is not a bad place to live. The apartments are basic and better than most of the affordable apartments close to NC State. Repairs were very prompt and when I first moved in, the management was exceedingly nice.
Despite the okay condition of the apartment, the particular unit I lived in had a bad mold problem in the bathroom although I consistently had the fan on and also cleaned it regularly.
Also, the heating/cooling unit is very inefficient. The heating costs were especially high. I'm used to living in a much cooler climate than NC and the costs to heat my apartment at the Summit were much more expensive than the freezing cold winter heating costs that I am used to!
Also, be careful of renting here if you have a cat or dog. First, they charge $300 non-refundable fee for a pet (the pet fee is usually $200 at most other apartment communities in Raleigh). I had a cat while living at the Summit. When I moved out, the management thought the apartment had a "cat urine smell." This particular apartment had an odd smell from the beginning when I moved in and it was definitely not a cat urine smell. When I told them my cat never urinated anywhere in the apartment except the litter box, they basically accused me of lying and continued to charge me for damages to the carpet (despite finding no definitive proof that my cat urinated on the carpet).
Basically, be careful when moving out if your rent here. Make sure the unit is spotless and completely odor free when you move out. Otherwise, you may have to pay big bucks for nothing.
