I spent the summer here under a sublet, and enjoyed living in the complex. The houses are a bit older, and don't have as good as insulation (the upstairs gets quite hot if you have a south-facing room). The community is quiet - there are younger couples and children around, but nothing extremely noisy. The lighting is adequate. No matter where in the complex you are, there is noise from cars on Avent Ferry, but it isn't bad with the windows closed.
There's always a few extra parking spots in every lot, so I have never had trouble finding a place to park my car. NCSU, the post office, grocery store, and a few restaraunts are all within about 2 miles. The Wolfline as well as a public bus route are just along Avent Ferry.
The grounds are kept up and the pool appears to be well maintained (I've never been). I can't say anything either way about the maintainence and staff, but my roommates have never had any problems with them. One thing to consider, though - there are washer/dryer hookups, but no laundry facilities on site.
The rent for my apartment was cheap, and it is close to the things that I needed. THe only thing about this apartment that bothered me was that the community reminded me of a brick trailer-park in the landscaping and feel of the place. Not that there is white-trash sort of stuff going on, but it is a cheap place to live and the design kind of shows that.
