Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I lived there for several years and saw the extreme decline in every aspect of this community. I work in the apartment industry and if I saw site staff behave the way they do here I'd not only fire them I'd file a criminal report. The very worst thing those a__-h___s did was when I moved out, they refused to settle the account, even though I requested to. Then they passed off a bogus charge (the damage was from a leak they never fixed) to a collections agency - what kind of professionality is that' BEWARE! Clearly the management problems are not just the site people but the company's policies.
Everything was pretty nice up until the beginning of 2002, after the murder. There was a period of high turnover of staff, and they started renting to sketchy-to-dangerous types. By 2003 the police must have gotten tired of trekking to the complex several times every night. The staff never got their act together in fixing things; it always took numerous calls and I finally had to contact the management's office in Chicago to get anything done. They usually broke something else while they were fixing the original problem.
The place is falling apart and needs an overhaul. I had three - YES THREE leaks while there. I lived on the first floor and pipes breaking overhead flooded different rooms of my apartment. Someone did come at night / weekend to stop the leak, but getting the ceilings fixed and repainted took an act of God, these people didn't care at all. They broke the light in the kitchen and NEVER did fix it.
As the quality declined, with all the "decent" (all races) people leaving and numerous vacancies, they still refused to give me a break on the lease - so goodbye! Check out the average leases on this site and you will see how they decline as the quality does. And the problem is not that they are renting to a lot of --------- (they were targeting that group for a while with bilingual staff) but that the people there clearly don't work, don't clean up after themselves, and seem to be at the least petty delinquents: it's a screening problem, not a racial thing.
I wound up paying for the carpet that was damaged from the water leak which they never fixed.....until there are some drastic changes go ANYWHERE else - the location is great but go down the street, you'll regret a lease with these people. I also suggest when you leave you print this out and have the police come with you to settle the account: insist on it, unless you need credit and collections agencies calling and mailing you at your new place.
