My UPDATED Review (I've now lived here for over 2 years)...

I am moving into Wildwoods in a few weeks. I haven't signed my lease yet, but I am looking forward to moving in. My boyfriend says the apartment looks nice and we are both thrilled to be living so near a park with lake and trails. We are familiar with bugs in the woods, so we are not worried about they few reviews that mention bugs. I have coordinated this move from out-of-state (with my boyfriend's in-state eyes) and the office staff (especially Sandra, I believe her name is) has been very helpful. My questions have been answered, so I have a good idea of what to expect from my new home. I will update or repost once I get settled. I hope things go as well as they have so far. I apologize for the rating--I will give everything an even 3 until I see it.
Ok, I've lived here for 2 years now and I am very happy with the place. We have been able to paint, put up shelving, etc. When a burner on our stove went out, they replaced the entire stove! The maintenance is wonderful and take care of everything quickly--and things can happen because the buildings are older, but...we're right on the Lake Johnson trails and use them almost daily for walking and jogging...we also go to the boathouse for canoes and fishing. It's only a mile walk and it's a built-in workout. The pool is nice (big enough for multiple groups--there is also a hottub) and they are working on a workout center. We have one assigned parking space and there are open spaces, so parking generally works well. We are getting a new fridge because ours is simply old and wearing out. We had some problem neighbors (noisy, etc) and they did eventually leave. It took a while, but we were reasonably happy with how it was handled. The area is shaded and has some great "extras," including back porches and a HUGE (6'x8') closet in one of the bedrooms. Even when they redid the plumbing, which involved cutting into our (painted) walls, everything was done quickly and well--they even repainted for us!
I definitely recommend this place and only have minor problems with the wallpaper (ick!) and the age of the buildings, which makes things less than perfectly square.
We are into our 3rd year here and will only move when we leave the area or rents get insane. That's everywhere, though...but where in this area can we literally live in the woods with built-in trails and a porch and flexibility to paint, add ceilng fans, put up shelves, etc' for this price. And, I've never felt unsafe here. Ever.

I just don't understand how you can give a place a 'not recommended' rating when you've never lived there and say that you are looking forward to moving in?

I don't think you quite understand how this site works. You live somewhere, you develop your opinions (positive or negative) on the property, and THEN you rate it, in that order. Not doing so does nothing but skew the results.
So please refrain from posting evaluations on any other communities until you understand the order. Remember: reside there first, then evaluate your rating, then make it public by commenting on it. Reside first, evaluate, then comment. Reside, evaluate, comment. Reside, evaluate, comment. A useful mnemonic is taking the first letters of each and forming "REC". Reside, evaluate, comment. Please don't ECR, or ERC, or even CER. Those just aren't as fun, or useful. Thanks!
