Good and bad

Parking is bad: one spot per apt, no designated walkway between cars so scratches are common, shrubs go so far over the sidewalk that people walking by hit the front of cars (or worse, drop something and scratch your hood and don't even leave a note!), they cut down 4 really nice big trees saying they were going to add spaces, but instead they just repainted the lines closer together.. now there's 4 huge stumps were the trees were. wooden steps are horrible, especially when you have young/student neighbors that come home at 1am on weekdays. people are also very noisy on their porches, and the a/c units are very loud at night even when your windows are closed. also, in the winter I-40 is loud and clear. outdoor lighting is spotty, especially considering the complex is right on a walking trail where anyone can be lurking. the monthly car break-ins and the bi-monthly bike thefts from porches are a reminder that this place is not safe, and notices posted on residents doors do nothing to help.. the three sheriff cars in the lot recently have not stopped the crime either. staff and maintanence are friendly but serious problems do not get fixed. i've had outside water leaks in two apts, one which lasted all weekend before someone even tried to fix it. also the a/c has gone out 5 times (supposedly due to ants, so they claim all they can do is spray.. if it's just this unit, why haven't they gotten a new one.. if it's everyone's, they've got serious problems here) btw, maintanence takes 1 hr to arrive after hours, and they don't work outside at night. still, i've lived at places where they wouldn't even consider working after hours. in addition to ants in my a/c and on my porch, there are many wood roaches (aka water bugs), and they do get inside even on the top floor even when you keep your place spotless. there is the occassional sighting of the regular roach variety as well, and the bumble bees like to live in the walls and wooden steps (not to mention the squirrels that live in the attic). if you like nature, wild woods is great. in spite of all this, the location and the nature trails cannot be beat in all of raleigh.
