My Honest Opinion

Bad Things

• Sloppy maintenance, you?ll will get "we can?t do anything about that", but the funny thing is they can. I don?t understand why they do not want to keep their apartments in the best condition. Maintenance guy is never around when you need him. Emergency maintenance pager is a joke, it goes to the office assistant to "screen" what is really emergency maintenace. Trust me, you could write a book about the excuses they will use not to come until the next workday morning. I?ve wondered what exactly would emergency maintenance be.
  
  
  
  
• Rude Management, Pay your rent every month and don?t ask for requests and you?ll never see this. They will seem nice at first, but once you request that work be done they will show their other side. You will be told to put up with how they do things or move out; and how they do things is not to do anything.
  
  
  
  
• Building frames are starting to shift, doors do not fit inside doorways without slamming them shut. Front doors are not very insulated, you can easily see the light of day through the cracks. Squeaky stairs, floors, tubs too if you are on the second floor, or have a townhome. Cheaply manufactured if you ask me. Also the appliances are pretty dated.
  
  
  
  
• Paint spotches all over our home from a sloppy paint job, You?ll find specks of paint on the carpet, and wooden surfaces (if they haven?t been painted over yet)
  
  
  
  
• Carpet has stains, which the management refuses to replace until it gets really bad.
  
  
  
  
• IF YOU DO MOVE IN, (and I pray you don?t), don?t let the office assistant run through your place in 2 minutes noting problems, she?ll find what she wants to find, leaving the rest of the problems you?ll find later to be your fault, most likely meaning you won?t get your deposit back when you move.
  
  
  
  
• You cannot grill next to your apartment, but you CAN grill in the pool area, under an awning area next to the office/workout area. (I still cannot understand this).
  
  
  
  
• Pool is in terrible condition (cloudy water, broken stairs in the deep end, majority of lights not working, inner paint peeling [with paint chips all over bottom], sand, dirt, dead bugs adorn bottom) On the positive side, it is open all year, imagine the fun you?ll have swimming in December. I don't think it is too much to ask to drain the pool in spring and get it ready for the summer months.
  
  
  
  
• Hot tub (they call it hot, hah), It is bath water temperature, if even that! I feel like bringing shampoo, soap, and a rubber ducky. Management please turn up the thermastat!
  
  
  
  
• Every roof needs replaced, they leak, to which management will tar up your roof (ugly sight). If you visit, you can check this out for yourself.
  
  
  
  
• Tennis / Basketball courts need resurfacing, cracks and stains adorn it, nets are in terrible condition, if even attached.
  
  
  
  
• Parking lot could use a resurfacing, and Freer drive leading to the complex is unpaved coming from Goldrock road (Not Colony Squares fault, but it is annoying nonetheless to have to drive on a dirt road in the middle of Rocky Mount)
  
  
  
  

Good Things

• "Organic" grounds are well kept, grass is never overgrown, shrubs are cut, looks nice overall.
  
  
  
  
• Parking is good, Apartments can be parked on both sides, and townhomes have about two spots/per home
  
  
  
  
• The shopping areas of this town are close by
  
  
  
  
• Area is quiet, close to Northgreen Golf Course
