If you must move to Rocky Mount this place is ok.

First, I am not the same person who has complained about this complex. This is my first and only time to write about Colony Square.

I do not recommend you move to Rocky Mount. There is no industry, and in gerneral the people of Rocky Mount are constantly looking for handouts. You will find a few hard working people, but they are few and far between. There are also very few twenty-somethings.

If you must move to Rocky Mount, Colony Square is almost acceptable. The grounds are pretty, and I never had a problem with my neighboors. I felt safe here. (Though at Walmart or the Mall on the weekends I did not feel comfortable by myself. They are REALLY SCARY!)

The apartments need new carpet. The carpet is faded, stained, and matted. To put it politely, it is "gross." I asked the management about putting new carpet in my apartment, but they refused. I said I was willing to put a deposit on my pets, but they still refused. Plan on buying area rugs if you move here. Also the flooring in the kitchen and bathroom was pulling away from the wall.

The staff is friendly most of the time, but I do not always understand there logic. For example, every spring they give there residents a $20 gift certificate to a local flower shop so that you can go and buy flowers. (I thought this was really nice.) I took them up on their offer and had deck that was lovely, but I returned home one weekend to a note on my door saying they were going to paint my building and to please remove everything from the patio. I did. The problem was it took them over THREE weeks to paint the building. My plants needed lots of sunlight. To say the least my plants died. And they repremanded me when I spoke to the painters about why it was taking so long. This is not mangements' place. I was not harming anything or anyone. They are not my parents. The painters said the reason it was taking them so long was the heat. I do not think of this is an excuss. I go outside in the summer to cool off.

If you are still reading this I know, I wrote a book. I want others to know what Rocky Mount is like from an outsider. If you must rent and live in Rocky Mount, move to Colony Square. Unfortunately it is the best that Rocky Mount has to offer. It is not a great place.

I would recommend that you move to Raliegh which is an hour away. It is lots of fun. I truely hope this has helped you, and that your experience here is better than mine.
