Management is by intimidation. Repairs are by procrastination. And if someone is breaking the rules you can bet that they either work there, work and live there, or are friends with someone that works (and lives) there. Dogs, including pit bulls and bulldogs (owned by the people that work and live there) run off leash and no one picks up after them. If someone is making noise and having a drunken party late into the night, you can't report it because the guy you are supposed to report it to is the person making the disturbance. Don't bother contacting the owner, who lives around the corner, because all he will do is keep hiking up your rent in order to squeeze the most out of you or to squeeze you out. The units themselves used to be nicely kept up and are spacious, though have an unusual floor plan that does not lend itself to most people's furniture or lifestyle. Unfortunately, no matter how much you might like your actual apartment, the problems with poor management are not worth the hefty price you pay in both the highest rent in Rocky Mount and the peace of mind that is lost with the prejudice and favoritism therein. There are many many other nice places to live and I highly recommend that you look elsewhere.

Since I am a current resident at this complex, I find it disturbing that the last two responses on this website are so negative. I have only lived here for less than a year, but I think that things are getting better instead of worse! What was so awful that you decided to stay here for as long as you did? My experience thus far has proven to be nothing but positive and I have recommmended this place to many people who are new to the area! Seriously, how many places have you live that you can compare it to? I really like my apartment and I find that requests and repairs are completed on time and without the alleged "intimidation" you speak of???? Just my opinion of course...

I am also a current resident, for almost 2 years, and things are definitely getting better not worse. The management is NOW very friendly and accommodating. We've had a positive experience here! I've heard about many many other apartment complexes in RM and they have un-working pools, tanning bed, dirty gyms, etc. All of the amenities that we have are working and clean! Just my 2cents!

I only lived at Colony Square for a year. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I saw the intimidation of others and experienced it myself. For those of you who say that things are getting better... try making a complaint. That's what gets you targeted. It doesn't matter what you complain about. The simple act of complaining about any of the people that live/work there will get you retalliated against. The maintenance guy and "security" officer are usually at the pool getting a drunk on. Not what I wanted my children to be exposed to. I lived in other apartment complexes in the area and found them to be much more family friendly and less hassels.
