I have lived in several apartment complexes both in Wilmington & in other areas. This is by far the worst one I have lived in. Complaints are hardly ever taken seriously. I complained against someone for threatening me & shortly after my sliding glass door was broken. Then during a conversation with the apartment manager she informed me that she had a "talk" with the person I complained against & it "would't surprise" her if he had done it. My car was towed for not having a parking sticker after I was told that I did not need one. I got my car back, but was offered a month of free rent (in writing) & then management refused to follow through & give it to me. The staff refuses to make appointments for exterminating or anything else (even though I have a small baby in the apartment). They routinely come into the apartment to test the smoke detectors & check for leaks, but the manager admited that it was to check out the apartment condition. You are not allowed to have a grill on the premises even though it isn't stated anywhere in the lease. I had one (which I was using 15 feet from the building like you're supposed to) & was told that if I didn't "dispose" of it in 24 hours that they would do it for me & contact the fire marshall (uhm, fire code says you can't USE a grill on your patio). All of this stuff happened to me in 8 months. Maintenance staff is incompetent(they barge in, track stuff on the carpet, make rude comments, never clean up after themselves, etc). They NEVER fix ANYTHING & will tell you that things are "normal" when they clearly are not. I've even seen maintenance staff rope off parking places right in front of buildings for their use (guess they think people who pay rent should be more inconvenienced than they should). They don't enforce people picking up after their pets & there's dog feces absolutely EVERYWHERE. I agree with other reviewers that this place is perfect if you are a college student who has nothing in mind other than partying, but if you like to have privacy or respect or be treated like a decent human being Abbott's Run if NOT for you.
