I was looking for a convenient, inexpensive place to live while working in WS for a couple of years. (I go home on weekends.)
Ardmore Terrace is quiet, functional, convenient. I park my car when I arrive on Sunday evening and often don't move it until I leave on Friday evening. The bus takes me to work downtown or to the mall, if I must. Regular service from 6:30 AM to 10PM daily. 5-10 minute walk to 20 or more restaurants (McDonalds to Nobles, KrispyKream to Panera's), bagels, pizza, Indian, Irish, Chinese, Thai, seafood, and more. Two grocery stores - Harris Teeter and Whole Foods, two book stores - a national chain and a great used book store. Two blocks to my doctor and dentist. Two shopping centers. Starbucks. Churches, a synagogue.
An interesting mix of neighbors. Students, retirees, international. A few children. Free cable TV. Free wifi, if you are lucky enough to have generous neighbors.
Adequate maintenance of buildings and grounds. Some room for improvement here. My maintenace problems have been minor and have been addressed promptly.
My wife adds (She spends less time here than I do.): Love the mature oaks; simple accomodations, but we have everything we need.
I've lived here for 18 months.
