Just wanted to provide my experience...I signed a year lease: The apartment smelled like cigarettes. There was a huge stain on the floor of my apartment because the upstairs bathroom' had leaked. It leaked again while I was at work, which ruined all of my suits. Brandemere claimed negligence - saying I didn't file a report. I did. The message you get from this is Brandemere has a very hands-off approach. When they have to confront issues with their units, they take a defensive role instead of actually trying to work with you to solve the problem. This was back in 2000 so the bad reviews they're getting now are consistent with past behavior. Management sucked - not to be an ageist, but don't be fooled by the nice old lady persona - she was nice when I initially signed the lease, but mean as a bulldog when I tried to move out. Thank God I don't live there anymore. They never respond to phone calls. I also heard gunshots outside my apartment on 2 separate occasions. - People at work call this area the Ghetto.
