Crowne Oaks is definitely one of the best places to live in Winston-Salem as far as apartment living goes. Sure, it costs quite a bit more than other places, but the cost is definitely worth it to keep the ghetto out that is so prevalent in other complexes. The only thing I did not like about the complex was that stupid gate because it really does not keep out anyone, and after a time everyone in the greater Triad area knows the code(s) to get in. On this same note, the management changed codes frequently without telling residents, and they should be ashamed. Other than that, I felt very safe at Crowne Oaks. Even though there was one fire and one assault during my stay, I believe these are freak incidents and actions are being taken to ensure this doesn't happen again. Great features about these apartments -- the rooms are HUGE! The fitness center and pool are adequate, and it's really nice to have an actual kitchen rather than a landing strip with a stove in it. Storage is also great. You're not going to find a better place that this; I lived here two years, now am living in another complex temporarily, and would love to be able to move back. No place is perfect, and anyone who can find a better place than Crowne Oaks can move there.
