I loved living in Crowne Oaks. The office staff and maintenance crew were amazing--as soon as there was a problem, they would fix it in minutes. The maintenance staff were extremely nice and professional and they knew what they were doing--I would not have hesitated to let them into my apartment when I was not there. Crowne Oaks is by far the safest of the Crownes, especially if you are on the side of the Baptist Retirement Community. Bethabara is a safe road, separated from University and its problems. The landscaping is by far the prettiest--they actually have trees, and the parking was overall a good situation--the other Crownes definitely try to sell themselves over Crowne Oaks by claiming to have a better parking situation, but there were probably only 4 times that I was not able to park right in front of my building--and in those times I was parking about 10 yards away, obviously not a big deal. The entryway did have problems a few times--but they were fixed immediately. The gate was left open for a few days when it was icy--a good thing in comparison to sliding into the gate and ruining your car. There is an optional alarm system installed in every apartment, however, I never felt like this was something I needed.

The pricing of Crowne Oaks is definitely a great deal--Winston Salem apartments are a lot less expensive than other areas in the state, and especially for a safe, nice, and clean apartment complex, this is a great deal. It has been a quiet place to relax and study, filled with older college students (Wake Forest only allows Juniors and Seniors to live off campus) and plenty of graduate students.
