I lived in Deerwood Crossing from 1998 to 2000. I lived in a one-bedroom apartment at first, but later got a two-bedroom apartment.
Benefits: As one reviewer pointed out, floor plan is HUGE. My bathroom, alone, was big enough to put a bed in. :) I found my neighbors to be very friendly, and I was quite comfortable and felt quite safe. If you are from the 'burbs, you'd probably be looking over your shoulder. But if you're from, well, NOT the suburbs, you'll feel safe.

Downside: Maintenance was notoriously slow. The lady in the office was VERY mean. My lease ended on June 30, but I needed a couple extra days to move out, so at the rent office's request, I turned my key in through the office mail slot on a holiday weekend (July 4), but she claims that I never turned it in, so she charged me prorated rent until July 20, which is when she claims that they "figured out" that I had moved out. That is STILL on my credit 6 years later and I flat out refuse to pay it!

Bottom line - if your cash is your chief concern, this place is a good deal. But BEWARE of the money tricks played by the leasing staff. And whatever you do, make sure you put your key IN THEIR HANDS when you move out.
