Upon first look, Springhouse Apartments is an attractive place to live. The landscaping is great, the architecture of the apartment blocks nice, and the layouts of the apartments are wonderful --and I've seen a lot!

But before you sign up, take some time to walk around Springhouse. Visit also late at night, between 11 and 12pm. And you will see what the management don't want you to see.

* Ghetto black youth hanging out at all hours.
* Drug-lord style cars driving around with boom boxes that cause whole blocks to shake from vibration from miles away.
* Youths dressed in gang clothes drinking publicly at the car wash area (NOTE: YOU DON'T WANT AN APT NEAR THE CAR WASH AREA)
* People (------ and --------) loitering the entrances to apt blocks.
* etc, etc.

Now, why is that' As you will probably notice, Sprinhouse is cheap. In terms of what it provides, it's no better or worse than other apt complexes that charge $700 for the same facilities. The difference is that the 700 properties cost this much because they want to keep minorities away. And they do. So, because Springhouse is so cheap, and because it is located in a primarily black area of town, whites are a very small minority there. I would say less than 5%. This is fine, if you are white like me and don't mind living in a multi-cultural community. But there are also a few drawbacks in this:

First, if you are white, or a non-ghetto black, you will get tired soon of the ghetto culture in Springhouse. The boom cars with tinted windows, the black kids walking around holding their (you know what), with their pants haning down their behinds, the fat black mammas walking around dressed like trashy common women every Saturday night, and numerous people with a credit problem who can't afford to have a proper meal but somehow find enough money to purchase a $3,000 car stereo (yes, almost every morning and most nights you will be woken up by a stereo thumping hoodlum in a shabby car).

The management will give you a sheet with detailed regulations, but for as long as I have lived here they have *never* fined anyone. The maintenance staff are unfriendly and rude, the management team is not pro-active and this is something for which AIMCO, the company that owns Springhouse, is known for.

In summary, don't move here unless you are (a) looking for a ghetto community to live in, or (b) are a white middle class individual who doesn't mind putting up with MTV drug black culture in exchange for saving some money on rent. I don't even consider living here an option if you have a family.

Following some e-mails I received from black individuals accusing me of racism and of offending them, I also want to state the following: I am not nor have I even been a racist. I believe ------- Americans are a useful and necessary segment of this country. I also believe that the ------- American community has produced some of the greatest thinkers and doers in America.

Yet this has nothing to do with what I witness day in and day out at Springhouse. ------ who live at Springhouse are inconsiderate, loud, obnoxious, and impolite to eachother and to others. I am stating reality as I see it, with no intent to offend, merely to state what I observe.

I live here and have for 20 years. I've watched SH go from a beautiful place to a ghetto dump and I know what made it happen but, if I say it then "On no! That would be RACIST" because I'm just another cracker trying to hold the black man down, right? What a load of BS! Projectians is all we get in here any more and when they drive by in their pimpmobiles and look over at me or my family, we always get those same antiwhite stares of disgust and surprise! Well, I'm sick of it but, as I am on dissability and SSI from a sever mental dissorder, it looks like I'm stuck in this rathole! Also there is NO waiting list here unless you're white that is. And yes, everything the OP said is true x5! You don't like my words? Come up here and hang out in the back where all the dealers and crackheads live and look for a tall, bald honkey. I'll be around.
