I am very disapointed in the fact they do not keep their word on things.
When we gave our notice I asked the Mgr if they would be interested in purchasing the fan w/light I had put in the dining area. When I got it they installed it and said when we left we could take it or sell it. I asked the Mgr. and she checked with the owners and they said it would be a great asset and would purchase it for $50.00, so we left it and they had told us the money would be added to the check of our deposit money.
We moved out and now they say that was never a deal, even though the present Mgr said the note was in the file, but she thought we had already been paid for it.
Now they have the fan and we have not received the money.
Also they never keep sidwalks shoveled, very dangerous. But keep raising rent every time a lease is signed.

Manager's Response |

| We are sorry that you are upset about the situation with leaving your fan. All I can say about it is that this is a lesson for all of us to always get things in writing. It's unfortunate that we are not able to always trust what is said but when it comes down to business, always get it in writing as your proof and there wouldn't be an unresolved issue regarding the fan. Our maintenance team does the best they can to promptly remove all snow on the sidewalks as necessary. Unfortunately, there are emergency maintenance that take priority from time to time but we agree that the sidewalks should always be clear of snow as to keep them safe. Rising rent costs are often due to the fact that you may have been given an incentive when you moved in, which means that you are not at the market rent. Another reason for current rental increases are due to the increase cost in utilities and property assessments that are always rising. ~Dakota Park Management | |

This is a customer of yours and all you can do (the Manager) is offer advice on how to keep YOUR agency from backing out on verbal deals. Verbal agreements do carry weight in our society. Then you go on to describe your shady sales line to get someone to rent in the first place (incentive-THEN RAISE THE RENT). More people give you a bad review rather than a good one-that means dissatisfied customers. Do us all a favor and take a course in customer service.

Sorry, but verbal agreements dont mean anything. If you went into any court room in any state they would laugh at you if you said, "Well they said so!" I guess I have to agree with the management on this one.

I feel I need to respond even if it is a long time ago, because I did not see the Manager response at first. This was documented in the books by your Manager at the time and then the Manager that checked us out said it was documented but she thought we had already gotten paid. When I said no it was going to be added to our deposit refund at check out that is when they said they would not pay for it. RGKramer

The only thing that disappoints me about this is seeing that management would allow an individual to electrical work on their site. Sure, they may know what they're doing. But they may not and put everyone in that building at risk.

Dear stmp692,
Our current policy at Dakota Park is that residents are not allowed to do any electrical repairs themselves. If they wish to add a ceiling fan, it needs to be approved and then we go through a third party vendor to arrange a time when they will come out do the installation for a fee which the resident is responsible for paying.
