I enjoyed living at Dakota park, however I had to move out and broke the lease the apartment charged me over 2400(they truely charge for everything). Which I am willing to pay, my problem with them is they decided not to take me to court but instead took my co-signer to court. When I heard this I immediatly made arrangemnts with the rental agent Trisha to pay the full amount in a few month and handed over a 600 check, they cashed the check and advised me to do nothing with the judgement date and would drop the court case, but to check back with her before the end of jaunary. I thought everything was fine untill my co-signer called me up and they proceeded with the judgement againt him(on January 28th), even though I had paid off 600 they had the jugment for the full amount of 2400. Now even though I agreed to pay them the full amount my co-signer has a judgement againt him. So please be aware of this when looking in to renting especially if you have a co-signer. So Trisha am I accurate in my discription' Or are you going to spin this too'

Dear "Anonymous," As you and I both know, you actually "skipped" out of the apartment owing rent without giving us any forwarding address at the time you vacated. When we allow people to get co-signers when they are otherwise not qualified to live at Dakota Park, we have the co-signer complete the application as well as sign onto your legal binding lease, taking equal responsibity with you and any other occupants. If you should fail to pay rent, the co-signer is held accountable. In this case, you decided to up and leave without setting up any type of arrangement before skipping out of the apartment that you had occupied for only 4 months, one month of which you had the first months rent free due to a move in incentive and the three following months that you actually paid rent for, only one was on time. The charges resulting in your skip included a full paint as you had heavily smoked in the unit, a full clean as the apartment was left in disgusting order, a steam cleaning of the carpets and blinds with deodorizing due to the heavy smoke smell, Replacement of 4 drip pans, two parking tags that were never returned, a garage remote, the rent for the months that were unpaid and your incentive that had to be paid back as you did not fulfill your lease. The judement had already been started before you came in to make a payment so it was out of my hands and was at that point handled by the court system. Honestly, if I was you, I would be ashamed that you used your co-signer, knowing that he would be responsible if you skipped out on the apartment and had a balance owed. Now you not only put a judgement on his credit but you and your roommate also have a rather negative a mark on your rental history....sad.

Reading this makes me never want to rent at Dakota Park. Question Trisha....if the judgment was supposedly already started and "out of your hands" as you put it, then why would you tell this tenant that you would drop the court case? Sounds like you are a big liar! This former tenant should be suing you for stupidity and just for being a -----.

Wow, this makes me NEVER want to rent from Dakota Park. A friend and i took a look at the apartments and were really interested but after seeing this: We Have Changed Our Minds. I do agree though: If the judgment was already started and "out of your hands" why would you tell the tenant that you would drop the court case? Hmm...it really does sound like bad managment and a way for the managment to take ya for every penny you have. If i know anyone who is thinking of renting from you guys...i will definetly not let them.
