To say that these apartments are not soundproofed is an understatement. The front door to the apartment was the standard type you find inside a home, between rooms with a hollow core (in fact it was the same that divided the bedrooms and bathrooms in the apartment). This made it so that I could hear everyone in the hallway, talking and walking, even over the TV or radio. Amazingly the windows did not provide much more sound barrier, even with the cold weather. With them closed during the winter I could still hear people and cars in the parking lot below-- I expected far better windows for insulation during the winter. Management came a long way during my stay there though. At first they sent out memos that had incorrect grammar and spelling (which is not a professional thing to do), but as time went on they got better. Hopefully no one else has the same problems I had when I moved in which included them putting me in the wrong size apartment, and then dealing with having to swap all of my accounts/utilities again and an apartment that had not really been cleaned or repaired before I moved in (since they put me in it last minute after discovering the mistake when i went to sign the lease). The big plus here was the garages (the older apartments have individual garages, while the newer ones have underground garages that each apartment gets a spot in). To me the individual garages were the best way to go because of having privacy and room to keep some of your extra stuff. Overall, this was an ok place to live, but was overpriced (though it seems everywhere in Grand Forks is).
