Not a bad building, but management sucks.

When I moved to this building in 2001, the management was helpful, friendly and available. I was assured that I would find that everything would be sound and if I had any questions or problems, all I had to do was call. It was that way until mid-2002 when the resident manager moved away and Builders Management and Investors Co. Inc. (the owners of the building) put the father-and-son team managing the building next door in charge of my building. It was a disaster from then on.

Every time there was a problem with something in the unit, be it plumbing or paint peeling away from the doorframes, I would be put on trial over the phone with Gomer and Goober asking me repeatedly "Well, what did you do to it'". This question was posed to me even when I reported one evening that water was literally shooting out of the drain in my tub while the neighbor upstairs was taking a shower. Roto-Rooter (not a licensed plumber, mind you) arrived unannounced FIVE DAYS LATER, and declared that they were called that morning just to unclog the tub, but there was nothing they could do about water shooting out of the drain whenever the upstairs neighbors took a shower (well, duh!). The Roto-Rooter guy even asked me "What the hell is wrong with the manager, is he retarded'" Another week goes by, and then the problem was temporarily 'fixed' by the property maintainance man (also not a licensed plumber). Now water only quietly floods into the tub through the drain instead of violently shooting out. Of course, "Schnider" had to cut a hole in the wall to access the pipes and then cover the hole by SCREWING A WOODEN BOARD OVER IT.

I am now moving to Florida, and Gomer and Goober have performed one, last, great service to me by losing the 60 day notice my girlfriend and I gave them and billing us for the next two months rent. After calling Builders Management & Investors Co. Inc. in Fargo to get the problem squared away, I was told by the pleasant gentleman on the phone to - and I quote -"F*** off, pal. You renters are all the same...liars, liars, liars. How do I know you even wrote a notice' You're paying us or you are going to court. (phone clicks)"
Must have been a rough day of Fat-Lord-In-The-Manor-ing for him. Counting cash all day can wear a man down some I suppose.

So, bottom line, I would recommend looking around a bit before taking residence with these folks. Generally, though, the neighborhood is safe, the people in the building are quiet, and the building is located well. It just seems that the management could use a labotomy...not that it would improve their social skills any.
