I signed a 6-month lease and that was 5 months too long! I made it very clear when looking for apartments that we needed someplace quiet. We were rented an apartment with paper-thin walls and floors right above a couple who fight, sometimes physically, on a constant basis. They also have a baby that they sometimes let cry until the poor thing is hoarse. A person may think that this is a neighbor problem however, do you want to live somewhere where you may have to go 2 blocks to get to your laundromat and mailbox' The laundromat smells like an outhouse and does not even get cleaned. It doesn't even have a garbage can to put the lint in! It is also overpriced and most machines don't work too well for the price they cost.

The apartment is large, which is about the only thing I can say good about it. The heat is paid, which is good since the place is drafty. We are normally hot as heck because the downstairs neighbors crank their heat because of a broken window in their apartment. The windows and doors freeze shut on a regular basis.
You have a balcony but have to share it with your neighbor.

We have never once had anyone shovel the stairs or sidewalks. We had a blizzard, the next day I had to be to work at noon. The plows still weren't there by 11 so I called and was assured they'd be there before noon so I could get to work. They finally came at 3:30 p.m.

If you want to see police on a regular basis, come and live at this place. We see police there at least once a week to deal with a domestic disturbance or loud party. I do not go out at night if I don't absolutely have to in this area. Very bad part of town in an area that doesn't have too many bad parts of town!

They overcharge people on rent for as run down as the place is. They can get away with it for the people who have a hard time finding a place to accept dogs. By the way, don't think you can walk to the dumpsters or anywhere on the grass without stepping or just about stepping in dog crap.

Our "assigned" parking spot is free game for anyone to park. We've even found members of the office staff that park in our supposedly "assigned" parking spot.

I put in our notice WAY before our mandatory two months notice that needs to be given. Management does not care about our issues with the place. I would LOVE to move out TODAY, if possible. We have found a place WITH a garage AND our own balcony AND fireplace with laundry IN THE BUILDING for over $50 CHEAPER PER MONTH!!! We are moving ASAP!!!!!!

Now, I have lived in many different apartments so I know there is a fair amount of noise in any apartment but this place is ridiculous! You shouldn't have to CRANK your television just to be able to hear it above your neighbors' televisions!

OH - The icing on the cake...The place was not very clean when we moved in. The stove had not been cleaned, there was sticky stuff running down all of one wall and the closets and vanity had not been cleaned out. We moved in to this filth and when we moved out, spent HOURS cleaning that place SPOTLESS (I used to clean empty apartments for a living) and STILL got dinged on our deposit!! AND I had to throw a fit over them bringing up a stain in the carpet that was there when we moved in! I consider myself lucky that they dropped that deduction. I agree. I am a first time apartment renter and I hope I can find a quieter place. I am counting the days on my lease.
