I lived there 13 yrs - why' - good rent for apt. size. Finally moved - 2 yrs ago - the roaches showed up - apt was semi-proactive. They eventually evicted the person who had them, but once you get bugs . . . Every winter - the mice move in - apt reaction' Here's some glue traps. I had mouse holes everywhere, and saw mice actively in my apt. They could care less (management & mice). Very drafty - old windows, poorly installed doors. Quiet neighborhood' ha! non-stop barking dogs, firecrackers year round, trains, and Offutt AFB noise. As to the actual complex noise - screaming children, lots of car radios, and inside noise travels very, very well through the walls. Oh, and the drunken fights on any given weekend. Depending on which manager I had, some were pro-active on violations; some could care less. We had some crime, but not as much as would be expected. I would say I felt relatively safe while I was there. Crime got worse in the last year or so - with car break-ins etc. At least one murder, one suicide, one arson attempt - while I was there. If you decide to rent -- Note EVERYTHING wrong on your checklist. Every nick, scratch, crooked screen. I learned the hard way when I moved out. And they dinged me. I had cats & was grandfathered in - understand they still allow some cats in certain apts. But, after already paying my first pet deposit and a raised rent because I had pets -- when my 2 cats died - I was informed I would have to pay another pet deposit if I wanted to get another cat. Also, my neighbor below me - SEVERE mold growing in her apt - nothing, NOTHING is being done about it! And she won't complain! Maintenance will show up in a timely manner - they wont' actually fix your problem, but they will show up. Also, in my opinion, and while I cannot confirm this - after speaking w/ other neighbors - we all had the sense that either manager or owner was going into our apts without warning or notice. No money is put into these buildings unless they absolutely must. And then they go w/ lowest bid, so any work is half-a**'d and is not corrected. I had a "garden" apt. - 2 bdrm, private stairwell - very good size for the rent. But, since I used the 2d bedroom as a storage room, was once threatened w/ eviction because it was only to be used as a bedroom! Do not expect sidewalks to be cleared in winter. Depending on which bldg you live at - parking can be a total nightmare. If you're lucky, you can park near your apt. Some times, you find your neighbor, with his 3 cars and his buddies have taken up all the spaces. This place was never great, but it has really gone down hill.
