I personally hate these apartments. They look great at first glance. The layout of the apartments is the best of any apartment I've had. However, there are no locks on the building doors like other apartments in Omaha have. There is no outgoing mailbox. They tell you to put a sticky note on outgoing mail and place it in your mailbox but that doesn't work. The apartments are furnished with the very cheapest things. The carpet is very cheap. When I vaccuum the carpet, parts of it come up and if I ever lay on the carpet, I have parts of it all over my clothes. The washer and dryer closets have a rack to hang clothes that sits right over the washer and dryer. It's impossible to hang clothes on it and they refuse to move it. The excuse was that there are pipes in the way. Wouldn't you think they would put one of those racks in a stud??? It should be quite easy to move it up. The towel racks in the bathroom bend very easily. There are no ceiling fans. Lighting isn't the best. You'll need extra lamps. I moved into a brand new apartment and the bulb went out in the kitchen lighting fixture in less than 2 months. When I went to unscrew it, it shattered all over me. The builders were lazy when putting outlets and tv/phone jacks in the bedroom. With the way they have them placed, you almost have to have your bed against the window. I don't have my bed against the window but I had to buy an extra long cord for my tv and have it go across the entire room. First floor apartments have doorbells yet they pay the least amount of rent. No fitness center. I love the layout but after living here several months, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I've lived in apartments that have less rent and much better quality appliances and other conveniences. Look around a lot before you settle on these apartments.

I would have to disagree. I lived there in a new building for a year. It was a great experience. When I moved in the office staff said that the post office would not provide us with a mailbox, so I always sent my mail from my mailbox. It isn't that hard to stick a post it. The carpet is brand new, which is awesome; and any new carpet sheds for a while, but it eventually stops. This is much better than having old, funky carpet. The area is very safe so I didn't think they needed secured entrances. None of the apartments that I have lived in have been secured; it's LaVista after all, not New York. It seems senseless to hate a place because of where the outlets are. I loved the hooks that they put in the bathrooms by the shower and the shelves, shoe racks, and belt hooks they included in the closet- I think the cronstruction was well planned out. I thought it was really cool to have a doorbell. The BEST thing about these apartments is that the HEAT IS PAID!!!!! That is a huge plus. |
