I moved into East Pointe apartments the end of May '08 and was falsly evicted in July '08. First of all my ceiling was leaking in the bathroom when I wasn't there. When I got home and found out I called maintenance immediatally and they were there within 10 minutes. I have cats so my cat litter box had water dripping into causing it to smell and I didn't get a chance to clean it out before maintenance got there. So the next day I received a 14 day cure notice because they said my apartment reaked of cat urine. So 14 days later when the manager came I made sure that my litter box was completly cleaned out so there would be no cat urine smell. She came in and claimed that the place smelt horrible and we would have 14 days to vacate the apartment. So I called her and asked her to do a UV screen because I know that my cats never pee anywhere but their litter box. And I've had several people over that don't smell anything. She said she would find the black light and cover over in a couple days to check the carpets. So the couple days were up and I called her to see when she was coming. She said that she wasn't even going to come back because it smelt so bad and there would be no point in doing a UV screen when she already knows the issue. So I went and hired a carpet cleaning company to come out and UV screen the carpets for $50. He came and checked every inch of the carpets and didn't find a trace of cat urine in the whole apartment. He said that he couldn't even smell anything and that it was the cleanest carpet he has seen in a long time. The funny thing is that she won't even give me back any of my deposits and she is charging me an additional $97 to clean the carpets that are perfectly clean. So I moved in and lost $500 worth of deposits, $97 additional for carpet cleaning, and $50 to hire someone to UV screen. Now I have to turn around a pay another apartment $650 worth in deposits, application fee, and moving expenses. It was just a big freakin' scam living there.

I understand that it was part of the maintenance staff and manager's fault for this situation, but I wouldn't say it was a "scam," but very miscommunicated and poorly handled...Could you be overexaggerating a bit?
