Worst Living Experience in Lincoln!
From: mj103Date posted: 8/3/2008
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
From before we even moved in, when they attempted to push an extra month of rent on us and then threatened to not give us an apartment (three months after we had put down our deposit and signed the papers) they were the worst...absolute worst... in every conceivable way.
Our apartment was not cleaned or repaired before we moved in because "the former tenant moved out late." We are reasonable people, but that did not seem like our problem, and is something that should have been taken care with the former tenant. Next, our A/C/furnace broke for the first of (I believe) eight times in twelve months. On several occasions it took several days for them to fill the work order, leaving our apartment at an unlivable 88-90 degrees or absolutely freezing, depending on the season. To make matters worse, the managers of the complex were almost always rude and unsympathetic, regardless of the situation.
They refused to contact us before entering our apartment, at our request, after two separate occasions of double-digit burglaries. The manager's reply "Well, we'll be there anytime, 9-5, from Monday to Friday. I guess if you have a problem with that you can just take the next five days off from work." Very professional, given the situation.
While I could go on for pages and pages, here's a list of other things that come to mind immediately.
Pool/Gym/Hot Tub close at 9 p.m. (closed on Mondays) and are frequently not usable. On a few occasions, the hot tub was cold. Instead of turning on the heat the oft-lazy and unhelpful staff said "Lots of people were in it last night" and walked away with no other explanation.
The closet/pantry doors are constantly broken. In February, 2008 we submitted a work order to have several of our doors fixed. When we moved out at the end of July, 2008, they order had not been filled, despite several "reminder calls." When we brought it up upon moving out, the response from the, once again, very professional manager, was "Okay."
The dishwasher was installed improperly, leaked, and was never fixed. We were told to "push the door to the side when we closed it."
The electricity went out (just our apartment, not from a storm) for no reason more than once, no explanation given.
Our cable did not work for more than a week after moving in because the office staff failed to fax information to the communication company. After four calls to the office, it was finally done.
Tanning appointments were often double-booked, so it seemed to run as a limited first-come, first-serve, with The Links staff usually beating residents to the punch. Also, with the selling of outside memberships, the club house facilities were often crowded and overbooked.
Think the golf course is worth it' The maintenance people were constantly crawling all over it and were consistently rude. They will take their time picking up range balls, making your party wait for several (up to fifteen in my experience) minutes before you can hit. There were also a couple of occasions where The Links staff came by on carts and said something to me ("DON'T FORGET TO RAKE!" on one occasion) in the middle of my back stroke.
As I said before, I could go on and on, but after five years of living in Lincoln and moving almost every year, I have never personally experienced or heard of others experiencing the absolute horrors we did while living at The Links.
