ANYBODY CONSIDERING THE LINKS
Look at another apartment. The management is unscrupulous and will do what they can to screw you out of any money they can. The hassle is not worth what you get.
PRIOR TO MOVING IN
Lets start from the very beginning. I was a student at UNL and was looking for a place to live my Junior year. I come across The Links and it looks like a good place to live so I put in my deposit in January (7 Months prior to moving in) to reserve a fully furnished place to live the following school year. The summer roles around and I call to make sure everything is in order. After calling they tell me that they don't have me down for a furnished apartment and told me that I would have to bring my own (being a student I had none and no money to purchase furniture with). So I meet with the ----- (recently fired) and the folder with my information has "FURNISHED" written on it and sloppily crossed out with a Bic pen. I basically tell them I'm going to get a family lawyer to sort things out and viola, they happen to have a furnished apartment. Also, I was looking for a place for the school year and wanted to prorate the lease...apparently they refuse to do that so I had to live their one additional month, and because it was a 9-month lease and not a 12-month lease, they charged me an additional $15 per month in rent.
WHILE I LIVED THERE
When I moved in, I filled out my move in sheet to make sure I was not charged for anything. There was a broken door and kitchen drawer that I noted in CAPITALS on my move in sheet, and I was told would be replaced within the next couple weeks. No problem, right' Well, in the ten months I lived there it was never fixed, despite numerous requests (I'll return to these comments later). The management for the first 5 months of my lease was terrible. Unprofessional, unorganized, and downright rude. They make you feel very unwelcome and it feels like anything but home. They hire students who are looking for discounted rent and couldn't care less whether the job is done correctly or not. When I moved into my "already furnished" apartment, all of the furniture was tossed in the living room and needed to be moved I had to assemble the bed and head board myself.
So I moved in and didn't have to many problems the first semester I was there. Around the New Year, the Lindsey Management Company finally developed a tiny bit of intelligence and fired the management that was there. Unfortunately they have no idea how to identify good employees because the new management (the current management when I moved out as of June 2009) was just as terrible as the first. To their credit, they were more organized but were still incredibly unprofessional and even more rude than the last group. Around the beginning of March, a gigantic hole developed in the road that goes around the lake. Their were about 5 different colors of car paint scrapped into the pavement and one of my friends nearly totaled her car in it, despite numerous complaints to the management from several different residents. Finally, around the beginning of May, I sent an e-mail to Lindsay Management's legal department saying they had a lawsuit on their hands. Within 12 hours of that e-mail they had the hole blocked off and within a week the hole was fixed. This just shows how poor the current management are at their job.
When I developed a leak under my sink, I had to fill out a slip to request it be fixed. As I had heard that their had been issues with maintenance stealing flat screen TVs and what-not, I set up a security camera. When reviewing it, the maintenance guy shows up, looks under the cabinet, then starts to leave without doing anything. On his way out, he sees my camera is filming him and goes back to the sink to fix the problem.
MOVE OUT
After I moved out (which I couldn't be happier about), I thoroughly cleaned everything and what not to get as much of my $250 security deposit back. So I leave and drop my keys off with the assurance that they would go through my apartment and look at my move-in sheet to determine if there were charges due. I get a bill two weeks later from The Links, saying they were keeping my deposit and I owed them an additional $60. On this bill' $160 in cleaning bills, despite the thorough cleaning that was preformed. Then they wanted an additional $105 for the BROKEN DOOR I HAD NOTED IN CAPITAL LETTERS, as well as another $10 or $20 for the broken kitchen drawer. Apparently the bold, capital letters on the move-in sheet weren't visible the first time they looked at it, because when I called to note their "oversight", they immediately said, "Oh, yes, I see it here." Clearly trying to steal my money. I'm still waiting for them to send me my deposit back.
An additional note, an elderly neighbor moved in the last month I was there and after talking to him, I discovered that he would only be around for about one year for his job. His story was that he was looking for a furnished one bedroom apartment and when he called, they told him all they had were large 2-bedrooms available (clearly trying to take advantage). After telling them that's not what he needed and would look elsewhere, they simply said, "Oh wait, hold on one second and let me see what I can find." They then proceeded to offer him small and large 1-bedrooms, on the top or bottom floor, with either a golf course view or a parking lot view. If trying to take advantage of the elderly isn't immoral I don't know what is.
THOSE OF YOU LOOKING AT THE AMENITIES
The amenities aren't that great, especially if you are a student. Pool is open for around 2 months of the year if you are a student. The Golf course about 6 months and you need to call about a week in advance to get on. In the mood to hit range balls' Good luck. They NEVER have any. The only way I ever got any was when I went down to the lake and picked them out of the water myself. If you want to golf, consider walking. They tell you carts are $5. Actually $5 per person (which makes zero sense), another convenient oversight by the guy selling the apartment. Also, I lived their for 10 months and barely used any of them because the management makes it seem like such an inconvenience that you are using them.

The Links of Lincoln Is NOT what they are cracked up to be. Any one who writes a positive REVIEW are clearly management. Let me be somewhat helpful. Lindsey Management out of Fayetteville, Arkansas not only has Lincoln, NE under there belt but atleast 6 other States and many other cities. But the funnier thing About Lindsey Management, is that the Cable and Internet is owned by Guess Who!! Lindsey Communications and to top it off The builders of the Apartments at the Links at Lincoln, and the Links in other states Guess who again!! Lindsey Construction! Kinda funny. If writing a review give your self a little entertainment and read the other reviews in the other states they have THE LINKS at! I lived there for about 5 months, because of faulty windows the froze over with Ice on the Inside of the apartment did they do anything about it NOPE! They blammed it on the builders saying the builders didn't belive them. Even with video and pictures still nothing was done. My Electric was over 200.00 a month. They offered nothing.
To sum it up for anybody reading this or to prospective tenants, Document EVERYTHING Get It In Writing, Ask for Copies of the maintence request after filling it out, Make a copy of the Move in and move out, Take pictures of before and after.
One more thing In the State of NEBRASKA you as the Tenant need to do the following, You can fill out a form it's basically a 14 day notice to the property management, letting them know that they have 14 days from the time of receiving the notice make a copy for your records AND SEND IT CERTIFIED MAIL, but they have 14 days to fix the the problem or that terminates the agreement because they have failed to fix they issue. You can find the forms online at legal aid of Nebraska. Trust me I work with several people who have lived there or know someone who has lived there or they living there now and can't wait till there lease is up.
If someone can give me a logical Explainaion of why other people in at least 6 other states under the LINDSEY MANAGEMENT have the Same Exact Issues as Lincoln, NE then mabe I will listen, but for now I would run as far and fast from the LINDSEY MANAGEMENT and THE LINKS AT LINCOLN>

I am getting ready to move out of the Links and have provided them notice of such. I have thoroughly reviewed their lease and have found a number of violations of the Nebraska Residential Landlord Tenant Act. I am considering filing a class action lawsuit against them on behalf of all similarly situated tenants for those violations.
