Not What We Thought...

My fiance and I began looking for apartments shortly before we got married and decided that we would begin our lives together at LionsGate. What a mistake' After we moved in, we began to realize how cold it can get with the fireplace, which we never used. Utility costs were out of this world. The final month we lived there (September) it was told to us that we used over 1,100 klw of electricity. We had 725 square feet. No way did we use that much. Kitchens are to small and crowded as well. Living room never seemed cozy enough no matter how we moved the furniture. When we moved out, they ripped up the carpet that was already filthy when we moved in as well as the pad and charged us $300 above our deposit for it. We are still in the process of fighting them for our money as they have told us that the carpet had pet stains. We did not have a pet so they are going to have to prove it to us in order to keep our money. This place is NOT WHAT WE THOUGHT it was going to be. Stay away!!!!!

Have you ever had a fireplace? Of course they get cold if you don't use them, it's an opening to the outside air. If you don't want a fireplace, why rent where there is one? And the electricity thing sounds like a utility company issue, not an apartment issue. Your review is basically worthless for someone looking to get an honest review of a place.

Great review in my opinion. The real problem is the corporation who owns these apartments. They are rip off artists and more people need to fight them on the way they withhold deposits. I also am currently fighting to get my deposit back . . . for months now.
And to the comment after the review. You obviously work for the place. On March 13, 2009, a ton of comments to old reviews showed up either bashing the review or praising the Richdale owned apartment. And you are wrong about the utility issue. I was getting charged huge bills during the summer and my apartment was hotter than heck. Turned out the air conditioner hadn't been properly maintained and needed coolant (or something) added.

My wife and I are considering a class-action lawsuit against Richdale Group to get our money back. If you are interested, contact us at richdale.apt@gmail.com and we will be in touch with you with any information we come up with.

We are also fighting Lionsgate for part of our deposit back. They to ripped up the carpets and charged us around $500 for all new carpets. Its beyond ridiculous! When I talked with my lawyer right when I gave her our papers, she just said "Oh, Lionsgate". Apparently we aren't the only ones being ripped off!
