My choices for Lincoln NE apartments were only limited to Ruskin Place and The Lodge because I have a German Shepherd dog. I walked through both complexes, and it didn't take me long to realize The Lodge was a whole lot better complex. Ruskin had dog waste everywhere, even on the sidewalk outside the clubhouse...that instantly turned me off for Ruskin! Additionally, the unit that I was looking at had old carpet and a horrible smell of tobacco smoke, which I can't stand. The rent would be an extra $50 a month if I chose the exact same floor plan with fresh carpet and a clean smell. That was not a good deal. When I walked through the Lodge unit, I was relieved to smell fresh air and see new carpet. I also noticed that the unit would be big enough for my huge sectional couch and king size bed. I took the rent for both complexes into major consideration, and as it turned out, the Lodge had a much better deal than Ruskin Place. I chose The Lodge without much effort.

So far, my experience at the Lodge has been pleasant. I have a nice basement unit facing one of the three pools. Everything works sufficently...I had a work order placed, and the management got to it in a timely manner. I'm very pleased with either one of two things...either I have very considerate neighbors, or the sound proofing is excellent.

The only draw back I have noticed yet is that there are some dog owners who are not cleaning up after their dogs. I have noticed, however some one driving around in a golf cart, picking up trash and dog waste. Additionally, the August newsletter stated that owners would have to pay a fine for leaving their dog's waste.

So far, I'm a satisfied resident. After reading all the negative reviews though, I'm having to cross my fingers that things don't go down hill. I'm a little concerned about the mold issue as two residents had written in their reviews of The Lodge. I developed a nasty cold virus the same day I moved in. If I suspect that there's a major mold issue which is causing my cold symptoms, I'll request that the bathroom be revamped...or I'll call the health department if the management does nothing. I guess, though that that's what you get for moving into an old apartment!
