Lived at Northbrook from 4-2006 to 6-2008 and it was nothing but a hassel. Do not expect to get your deposit back just kiss it goodbye when you write the check. The lease says "No Parties Allowed" but guess what the staff does not care and will tell you to handle it yourself and they will go as far as to tell you that it is a civil matter and to consult an attorney. We filed with HUD because our fair housing rights were not being protected. Every weekend there was a new party and noise so excessive that the police usually made arrests. We did not win the 1st HUD claim but when we kept complaining and we got an eviction notice we filed a retaliatory claim with HUD and we won several thousand dollars. We did not need an attorney and I was not taking no for an answer. We paid damn good money to stay there and it was unacceptable. The staff lies about everything so do not believe anything they say and get everything in writing and photograph the inside of the apartment when you do the walk through with them. Make sure you do the walk-through or you will get bonus charges when you leave. They will also ask you for your forwarding address when you leave this is so they can bill you absurd made-up cleaning charges so BEWARE!

And, they told me there is no walkthrough at all. They charge $18.75 per hour to have someone come in and clean the place after you've already cleaned it for "sanitation reasons". This is NOT legal since it is not mentioned in the signed lease agreement.
