I'm speaking from a mother's point of view about Old Cheney Place Apartments. In searching for apartments for my daugher in Lincoln, my daughter, husband and I checked out several apartments and also checked out the reviews. We visited Old Cheney Place apartments because of the reviews and were very impressed with the apartment, the grounds, the location, the feeling of safety, the girls in the office, 24 hour fitness center, etc. We just got done moving my daughter in and it was not a physically easy thing to do. The one thing that we did not really pay attention to when checking out apartments was the size of the stairways. There are no elevators and moving in furniture on the 2nd floor was very hard and somewhat of a chore. I hate to admit it but in order to get the couch in we actually had to heave it over the outside patio rail because we could not find a way to get it through either stairways. It took 5 of us to do this and this was an average size couch and was fairly light weight. I'm surprised no one else has commented about this issue as we can't be the only family that has had this problem. I can only imagine how people on the 3rd level got their furniture in. But we did finally get her settled and I think she will be happy.
One other thing we found out when moving her in was there are no light fixtures in the living room and bedroom. We had not noticed this before as when we checked out the apartments it was during the day so did not realize there were no light fixtures. So be prepared to purchase lamps or hanging fixtures as it's not much fun putting a bed together at night using the light of the closet and hallway.
I'm glad our daughter signed the 1-year lease because I don't want to move her again any time soon. When she graduates college and gets a permanent job I hope the company she works for will move her or she stays put where she is so we don't have to do this again. He, he.
