Rockledge Oaks Apartments

My list of why not to live here:
1) When I was moving on a three hour drive, my buddies and I realized we were going to show up about twenty minutes after Rockledge closed. We called them and asked if they could leave the keys somewhere for us. Their answer' "We can't do that because we have a policy of treating everyone the same." You would think their policy would be to go above and beyond for their tenants. Instead, we had to get a hotel room for the night and pay extra time on the U-HAUL because they essentially made me homeless.
2) And what do I find when I moved in' Dead bugs lining the space where the wall and carpet meet. Unfortunately, bugs have been a problem the entire time I've lived here.
3) A few days after I moved in, there was a sprinkler leak in my ceiling in the kitchen. So guess what' They came in, took a few days to saw through the roof, find the leak, spread ceiling dust everywhere, then replace the part they cut out.
4) Because of all their walking around on the kitchen counters, there is now a crack in the kitchen counter.
5) The apartment looks nice on the surface, but when you get up close, everything is cheap. The caulking job, for one, is horrible. I could have done a better job myself.
6) When I noticed that the back door let in huge drafts of air (probably where the bugs were coming in from as well) I asked them to fix it. The first time they tried, I could still literally see outside if I peered through the space between the frame and the door. The second time they just stuffed a bunch of padding in there which makes it extremely difficult to close the door.
7) For a "luxury" apartment complex, their landscaping is horrible. For roughly five months, I looked out my window and saw a huge pile of dirt where grass should have been. That and the dead bushes made for a lovely winter.
8) For a "luxury" apartment complex, they don't even have tennis courts or a basketball court. I pass by the apartment complex across the street everyday coming home and see their tennis courts and lower prices and wonder why I am still living here.
9) They raise prices and don't inform you. Recently, they raised the price of cable which is paid in conjunction with your rent. How did they let us know' By including a one or two sentence blurb about it in a page worth of writing. Not only that, the announcement came in June and was not put into effect until August. After two months when the change actually was put in place, they didn't even give us a reminder. Instead, I started incurring the $3 difference every month. Which leads to:
10) They don't inform you of any outstanding balances on your account until the dollar amount reaches $75. Doesn't sound bad until you want to move out and they slap you with nearly an extra $100 you have to pay on top of all the other expenses of moving.
11) When they added water as a utility you have to pay for, I was given the estimate of only $5 a month. Turns out that it's TRIPLE that amount. What did they have to say about that' "We were surprised too." Great. Maybe you should know what you're doing. Their billing system is idiotic as well. Whatever the total water bill is for your building (e.g., multiple apartment units) it is split among the occupants. What does that mean' Even if you go away on a trip for a month and don't use any water, you still pay for everyone else using water in your building.
12) The location, while at first seeming to be sort of a "get away" from the city, turns out to just mean more driving. Anything that is halfway worth going to in Lincoln is at least a 10 minute drive away. To get downtown, it will take you 25 or 30 minutes. I might as well go to Omaha.
13) For a "luxury" apartment complex, you have to walk quite a distance to get to your building. I would think "luxury" would mean maybe twenty feet away from your entry way. Not so much. In addition, they recently put in stopping blocks in front of the curbs in the parking lot. Talk about an unnecessary waste of money. Not only that, but for about two months, the stopping blocks were put in ON THE PARKING LINES. So if you don't turn into the parking stall PERFECTLY, your car jumps up on one of the blocks. Luckily, somebody got a friend and threw those on the grass.
I could go on, but do you really need me to' This place SUCKS. Live somewhere else.
