Never Live At Ruskin Place

Pest control is a HUGE issue. Not sure if it is a problem for the second and third levels, but on the garden level it is just gross. There is a HUGE gap between the bottom of the door and the floor which lets bugs in. During the summer I was killing 1 to 2 spiders on a DAILY basis.
The buildings are extremely dirty. They clean maybe once a month. People would put garbage in the hallways. People who didn't take care of their pets, fleas are a HUGE issue.
Don't try to use the gym. Every time I tried to go to the gym there was always a group of men using it as a "party room" and drinking beer.
The pool is a joke. People seem to think that the pool is a babysitter for their children and management wouldn't do anything about it. I am talking about people dropping off children 10 and YOUNGER at the pool and LEAVING THEM ALONE. I once went to the pool and there was a kid, maybe 5 years old, by himself. We were there for over an hour and no one came to check on this child or see that he was still alive. If the pool isn't filled with little kids alone, it is filled with beer cans and drunks.
There is something seriously wrong with the wiring. My electric bill was always $100 a month. I currently live in a LARGER apartment than the one I had at Ruskin Place and I have never had an electric bill over $40 at my current apartment.
Dog owners are extremely irresponsible. I could not have my windows open because there are constantly dogs running around without leashes. I opened my window a few times and every single time I would rush to shut it because a pit bull or another large dog was trying to claw my screen off and get in. I was scared to death to open the windows!
I really have nothing good to say about this apartment complex. It was a nightmare living there and I will never recommend them to anyone!

Pest control is a free monthly service provided to the resident. Our buildings are cleaned weekly and each month one building gets the hallway carpets cleaned. If there was an issue with dogs clawing at the window we would have addressed it had we known. As stated previously in all my other posts, please let the office know. We'd rather fix the problem than have people upset.

WOW is the first thing I would like to say. The staff is great and if this person had told them about the spiders they would do everything to help you get ride of them. For dogs running freely that is a lie. I have lived here 8 months and never seen a dog without a leash or owner right by them. The gym never has anyone in it. I go reagularly. And for the pool there are children there, "with their parents". I have never seen an unattended child and I went to the pool everyday summer of 2008. Also the cleaning of our hallways is done very regularly. I have never noticed ours to be dirty. I do live in a garden level apartment right at the moment in Ruskin Place and the only thing I have quams about is I think the rent is to high. But for anything else I think this place is great. The parking is a bit of a hassle at times and I complain about that. But there is alot of extras here movies, parties, poker nights, and they even had a swim party at the end of the summer. My thought on this person is they probaly were one of the people trashing Ruskin place. Quite frankly I have never seen any of this. I would give these great office people a 99.9 percent rating. They even put a notice on your door regularly asking is there anything else they can do here to make your living here better. So give these people a great round of aplause for doing an awesome job. If you want to live in a great place this is it.

Ugh, these shameless positive posts praising Ruskin Place make me taste vomit in my mouth. It is clearly obvious the management has their henchmen posting to help balance out the negative...yet truthful...reviews. I live on the middle floor at Ruskin and had a big problem with ants coming in my balcony door. It is not sealed properly. Maintenance did their stunted version of repairing it TWICE. The ants prevailed. There is a SEVERE problem with the energy efficiency of the apartments. I can literally see daylight when my balcony door is closed, and have taken to putting up weather-stripping and plastic on my windows to help lower my outrageous electric bill. In the summer it hit $120 a month, now at about $80. Ridiculous for a one bedroom
apartment. Parking is more than a bit of a hassle. If you work anything other than 8-5 (I work nights) forget parking anywhere near your building. There are too many dealers and college kids with nighttime visitors taking up the spaces. Hence, the noise. I have complained at least biweekly for the past 9 months to management about two apartments in my building and the constant thumping noise and screaming from parties. They have done nothing. I have also called the cops more than a dozen times, that seems to help for a week or so. I rarely use the tanning beds because the two times I have I was drilled by the office gestapo about who I was and where I lived, making me feel as though I didn't belong there. I suppose if you're not living up their ass and attending all their cutesy tootsy get togethers they wouldn't know you from Adam. The one time I used the gym, I went to the ladies room after to rinse my face and two guys walked in drunk. I immediately went to the office and the evil Brittney simply laughed and returned to her MSN messenger window. I can not wait until my lease is up in 3 months. I would not stay here if they comped by rent every month.
