The truth is always somewhere inbetween...

I see a lot of negative reviews on this site, and while I'm sure some of them are justified, I think that some might be a little extreme and are leaving out important details.
First of all, people complained about the fitness center being less than desirable. What they didn't say was that it was being remodeled, a process which took about six months. The fitness center now has a brand new television with a remote, still has a full set of free weights (none missing) and all of the previously broken equipment has been either fixed or in some cases, replaced, as in upgrades.
The rent is a bit high for the location in lincoln, but if you actually toured any of the other surrounding complexes, with a few exceptions, I don't think there's really any competition. Most of the places in this area are blighted and cater to a sketchy crowd, this complex doesn't.
And as for the bogus claims about rent being raised by 40 bucks...that has to be a flat out exaggeration. I've lived in the same apartment for four years now, and the rent only went up once, and that was by ten bucks. No way that someone got a 40 a month raise in rent unless their lease expired and they elected to go month to month. (It is a wellknown fact that in most contracts in Nebraska going month to month includes a sizeable fee that is usually a percentage of the rent in addition to previous rates.)
I don't think that all of the negative feedback is untrue, I just think that there are a lot of things that are being blamed on Tanglewood that would actually be likely to happen at any other complex in a similar situation.
And by the way, in four years of living here, the manintenance staff and office staff have been both courteous and prompt in resolving any issues I had.
Sorry for the long diatribe, but if you are really considering living here, I wanted you to have a chance to see both sides of the complaints instead of all the negative.

When I lived at Tanglewood, I loved the weight room (even when it was under construction)and I really didn't have any issues...until there was a major problem. Then they were not caring at all. If your living room ceiling falls down because of a water leak, I think they should pay to move you to another apartment...not tell you that you have to stay in your water damaged apartment because your lease isn't up for six months. And if you are 3rd shift and sleep during the day and they wake you up because they decided to jackhammer your patio, they shouldn't lie to you about posting they they were going to be doing work and saying a resident took down the notice when they never posted in the first place. And it shouldn't take 8 days to replace a kitchen light bulb.
Also I moved in on a move in special. The next year since I wasn't new they raised rent by $40 to the normal rate. If they never raise your rent they never gave you any rent break.

So are you ticked about the $40 increase because you had a rent special? Or should you be happy that you had the special in the first place??
That's a nice thought about moving you to another apartment. Is there anyone, anywhere that would do that??
You're probably right about the kitchen light bulb. Did it occur to you that there are like 450 other apartments there and you might not be the only one with a problem?
