I hate these sites, because out of the hundreds of tenants you only get to hear from the most disgruntled. Or even worse, the management pose as tenants to say good things about the property. Note to office personnel who may be reading this: When you lead by talking up your staff and you give yourself a 5.0, it's obvious!
I lived in a one bedroom on the second floor for the last 4.5 years. During that time I had only two issues.
The office once lost my rent check and tried to claim I didn't pay, so I was stuck with a stopped check fee. My advice is to always get a receipt.
The second was a house ant problem that came out of nowhere and although it was gross, the ants went away once some bait was put out and several months later, I don't see a problem.
Honestly I think these are garden variety black marks that anyone would have. Even the people buying houses have similar issues. So on to the good things:
*I was always able to find parking and I live right next to the mail center, so parking is not an issue
*The fitness center is constantly being updated, new machines, new mirrors, well worth the money
*Maintainence is courteous, prompt and efficient
*The office staff, with the exception of the one rent snafu never cause me any trouble
*Rent increases were about 10 per year, which in the area was competitive. Location is prime, right next to target and five minutes from the mall. Also easy to get to both UNL and Wesleyan as well as downtown.
The only thing I would caution perspective renters about is partying. If you like to party and make a lot of noise, I can guarantee you won't be welcome in this community. I had one set of neighbors early on that couldn't seem to get that and they were asked to move out.
Believe whatever you want, but I personally am only leaving Tanglewood because I am relocating to another city.

For Lincoln, they are expensive and do cater to the college crowd so I find the comment at partying actually not at all truthful - since they market mostly to the college crowd.
And 10% per year far exceeds the cost of living index by far incrementally, so that is outrageous actually for increases on a complex as large as that one with the rents involved.
So I wonder if this was written by one of the management staff.
